Have you earned the right to correct others?
Food for Thought
My wife will often correct me and I love her for it. She takes the chance of speaking words of wisdom to me because she loves me unconditionally and wants the best for me. She knows that the words may not be received in the right spirit and that there is the chance that I could lash out at her in the heat of battle. She does it anyway because she’s courageous and the vast majority of her life investment resides in me. She’s protecting her investment. She’s protecting the one she loves. She’s earned that right because of the love she has for me.
Do you have someone in your life who loves you enough to correct you—to basically save your soul with words? If not, pray to God for just such a person. They are truly a gift from God. Is there someone in your life you love enough to correct? If not, begin investing in others with your time, your resources, and your heart so that when their time of need arrives, you can be there for them.
Next Steps
People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. Daily, show the people around you how much you care and when the time comes to speak wisdom into their lives, your words will come naturally out of your love for them.
