Proverbs 16:1
To man belongs the plans of the heart,
but from the Lord comes the reply of the tongue.

Surrender your plans AND your tongue to God and you’ve got a much better chance at success.
Food for Thought
Have you ever been misunderstood? Has something you’ve said, emailed, texted, IM’ed, or for that matter, signaled in Morse Code, sound perfectly loving and appropriate in your own mind only to have the message totally misconstrued by the eyes, ears, and mind of the guy or gal on the other end? If you have, welcome to my world. I deal in communications on a small business and ministry level every day. Crystal clear communication is the goal and the only way I know how to achieve this at its highest level is total and complete dedication to God by those who speak and those who hear.
If your lines of communication are broken, hampered, fouled, or jammed, the best advice I can give you is to seek the Lord’s hand in all you do, think, or say. He will teach you how to use your tongue as an instrument to do good.
Next Steps
Paul teaches us to “work out our salvation in fear and trembling.” Fear and trembling definitely apply when we’re talking about the plans of the heart and the words from our mouth. Daily ask the Lord to check the motives and integrity of your heart and ask that he give you the gift of graceful speech.
